Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name

If I saw you in heaven?

Would it be the same

If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong

And carry on

'Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand

If I saw you in heaven?

Would you help me stand

If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way

Through night and day

'Cause I know I just can't stay

Here in heaven

Time can bring you down

Time can bend your knees

Time can break your heart

Have you begging please

Begging please

Beyond the door

There's peace, I'm sure

And I know there'll be no more

Tears in heaven

Would you know my name

If I saw you in heaven?

Would it be the same

If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong

And carry on

'Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

'Cause I know I don't belong

Here in heaven

essay 4 intro and first point...

                                                        Space exploration
Back in the 1960’s the earth was introduced something new, something different, something that no man thought could be possible. On April 12, 1961, machine and man successfully reached and made it into space (Russell). This produced a huge interest in many scientists around the world. For the U.S. it sparked many new ideas and created an agency called the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA. NASA was originally created for national defense. While the U.S. and the Soviet Union were taking part in the Cold War, new technologies led to space exploration experiments. This time period became known as the “race to space”. The “race to space” was a competition between the U.S. and the Soviets to prove that one country had more advances in technology than the other, making one country more superior. As the years progressed NASA was able to master and successfully take part in creating missions for space exploration. The most well known missions came from the Apollo program. Starting on October 11, 1968 the Apollo program accomplished eleven different crewed missions to space. These Apollo mission took the first humans to the moon and orbited the earth for the first time ever (“Launching NASA”).
From the first man into space back in the 60’s to present day, space exploration has evolved a lot. NASA has done over a hundred successful missions to space, improved safety for the space shuttles, created reusable space shuttles, created the International Space Station, and have set 3000 satellites in space that orbit the earth. Today space exploration has taken the U.S. to a new level in technology. Today, the biggest controversy with space exploration is that space exploration is quite expensive (Space Shuttle). Although pricy, space exploration has crucial benefits. Space exploration has assisted in major advances in the military, the medical field, and energy systems. The three benefits listed clearly prove that space exploration should be continued.
Space exploration has helped the military advance in many ways. The military developed the Military Space Program. Through the Military space program, the military has set up satellites in space that are used for weather, GPS, navigation, and warnings. Without these technologies, The U.S. military wouldn’t be the one of the most powerful militaries in the world that they are today (Moorman). Having the ability to detect weather and weather patterns has helped greatly. To know when a blizzard is coming or a 115 degree day is coming up allows the military to prepare the troops in advance so that they are ready for whatever climate changes the troops may face. The abilitiy to have GPS and navigation is crucial in directing military missions. Using GPS to guide a missile from hundreds of miles away and hit the target with precision, or to command a platoon to an exact location for battle or, to escape danger. Last to receive warnings from satellites helps in the U.S. national protection. These satellites can detect un know planes, vehicles, ships, missiles or any other dangers that may try and intrude the U.S. borders (GPS: A military perspective).
Opposers against space exploration say that though military advances are needed and national protection is needed; the space missions to set up the satellites are far too expensive (Hauck). The people against it say it’s not worth the millions of dollars to fly a space shuttle to space if the U.S. already has satellites in place. The average cost of a space mission is nearly 450 million dollars. There for the issue with the cost causes some discussion if space exploration is really worth it, when the U.S. could be spending that money to help the poor and ill.
Though people against space exploration have some honest points, there are just as many stronger points to prove space exploration is still needed. Space mission may be a little on the costly side but on the contrary, the entire process to prepare and plan the mission creates jobs for people. From simply welding the frame to the shuttle, painting the shuttle, organizing and planning launch times or to even be one of the astronauts going to space, there are hundreds of jobs needed to be completed. This help out the economy and leaving less people out of a job or poverty. Another great point is plain out to just have national protection. Who wouldn’t want to know when a devastating missile from another country is heading right your way? The military can detect a missile from miles away and destroy the missile before it ever gets close enough to cause harm to the U.S. (GPS: A military perspective).  Clearly the missions to set up satellites for the military are well worth the cost.

cause and effect essayy ya diggg?

Poverty
Poverty is an ongoing thing that is experienced by people all around the world today. Nearly thirty seven million people live under the poverty line in America. This number has been increasing greatly every year since the government started keeping track of the number of people under the poverty line in 1975). This poverty line or poverty threshold was developed by Mollie Orshansky in 1963. The poverty line is a way to measure the minimal level of income said to be necessary to achieve an adequate standard of living (Fisher). Every year this poverty line is updated by the Census Breuer to change it as standards or living costs go up or down through the years. The poverty line varies from the amount of people in the house hold. For example a family with three people, the poverty line yearly income is at $18,310, where for a single person it is $10,830 for the year 2010 (Poverty guidelines). There are many cause that lead to poverty, some of the top causes in America are, drug abuse, medical bills and lack of education.
Having a lack of education has a major impact on poverty. Nelson Mandela stated that, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world" (Poverty). Education is very important and plays a crucial role in getting a job, or learning new skills, or just advancing in knowledge. A lot of people that fall under the poverty line fail to complete high school or move on to further education at a college or school after high school. It is said that people with a high school education or less than a high school education are to expect a $16,000 to $24,000 income a year. Depending on their family size, these people with the lack of education could fall under the poverty line (“Poverty Causes and Effects”). These people with the lack of education don’t have the educational requirements for higher paying jobs. Working at minimum wage jobs is where these people in poverty will more than likely be at. Working at a low paying job causes the people under the poverty line to be poor because simply their income is not enough to have that adequate standard of living the poverty line measures. These people considered to be in poverty will struggle to afford food, transportation, housing and other necessities in life.
Medical bills have caused many Americans to fall into poverty. When a person or a family member becomes ill or sick with a severe diagnosis, the treatments, care or operations for the illness costs a lot of money. A study conducted at Harvard University showed that the average debt a cancer patient in America faces, with insurance, is $35,878. And that is only at the start of their illness (Martin). In order to survive or to just try and take care of the illness the payments must be made. This causes the patient to be short in money for the other need in life and to fall into debt. In 2001 study called “Health Affairs”, stated that half of the 1,458,000 bankruptcies that year were caused by illnesses and medical bills (Medical Bills). These factors unfortunately push the person or family under the poverty line.
Drug abuse is said to be the number one cause of poverty. These people involved with drug abuse end up losing their jobs because of their addictions. Not all drug abusers are poor or homeless but people in poverty are more likely to be involved in and have drug and alcohol problems (Poverty in America). These drug abusers end up spending all their money to support their habits causing them to fall into poverty. Many of these drug abusers go on welfare to be able to at least have some money for food, but many of these drug users end up using the welfare to buy their drugs.  Drug abusers slowly fall into a down ward spiral using all their money and doing whatever it takes to but their drug fix, pushing them into poverty (Moré).
Lack of education, medical bills and drug abuse have caused people all over America to fall under the poverty line. About half of the public say poor people are just lazy and don’t do enough to get themselves out of poverty, but there is more it. There are people in poverty who are not doing enough to get out of poverty and some people in poverty are just faced with different situations and problems that cause them to be in poverty (Poverty in America).

rough draftttt

Carry on
Considered to be one of, or if not the best basketball player in history, Michael Jordan in his sophomore year did not make the basketball team. Michael didn’t give up and chose to carry on. He later made the varsity team and helped lead the team to win a state championship. Michael went from a short kid who couldn’t even make the basketball team, to now, one of the best, most acknowledged players to ever play in the NBA. Michael has won 6 NBA championship titles, 5 MVP trophies, and 2 Olympic gold medals in his career (Inspirational Quotes). Michael was able to achieve all this by carrying on and not quitting. The concept behind “carrying on” is to pursue, to chase, and to push through whatever obstacles come in the way and do whatever it takes to succeed. Carrying on can be dealt with in many situations in life, emotionally, physically and also a big one, financially carrying on.
In life people go through and experience many different feelings and thoughts. This is all part of the emotional well being in one’s life. Emotionally carrying on can be a huge benefit in emotionally having a better life. People face hard times such as when family members pass away or a break up in a relationship occurs. Things like death and break ups can really affect a person emotionally. If one decided to quit or just give up when dealing with or moving past these tough situations, it can lead to severe depression, anxiety and even suicidal thoughts (Medicine Net). Suicide is the third leading cause of death in people aged 15 to 24 (Teen Suicide). Most of the causes are from emotional troubles. If a person chooses to carry on in tough emotional situations, better things will come from it. Carrying on will also help the person to move on with life and make them a stronger person in the future ahead of them. A person can recover and learn from their emotional troubles, and turn the negative emotions into positive, up lifting emotions and thoughts.
There have been many great success stories with carrying on physically. Michael Jordan and other great sports stars have been living proof of what carrying on physically can do for you. When a person wants to get faster or stronger or become healthier, and choose to quit or give up, the person will not be successful in achieving any of it. The person will not see any positive gains, and will more than likely fail at whatever goal the person is trying to reach. When a person decides to carry on in physical situations, success is the only thing going their way. In order to do so, one must push through the pain and run or lift heavier weights or eat healthy food. Also dealing with physical pain, a person can carry on and make efforts to fix the pain by stretching, exercising or recovering from surgery.
A topic highly conversed about in the world is finances. Finances or money is what runs the world today. Without money, it is difficult to live or do much in the world today. When people carry on financially great things can also come from doing so. When people quit or give up financially, it leads to people becoming unhappy or unsatisfied. There are people, who are happy with having little to no money, but that’s their choice. For the majority of people, having more money can help buy the things they want such as cars, houses, clothes or any other desired items. Financially carrying on by working harder or working two jobs or saving money is what is needed to meet the wants of a person. Carrying on instead of quitting financially, can help a person get what they want or dream of having.
Carrying on is all up to the individual. To choose to carry on or quit, is all in the mind. Carrying on has lead to the success of many people who have chosen to do so. Successful and happy people don’t get to where they are by quitting or giving up. The successors carried on and pushed through whatever was thrown their way. The decision to carry on can be life changing for many people. For others it may just be simple by feeling happier or feeling better about themselves emotionally or physically. Whichever way a person chooses to carry on, it will lead to success and to better out comes.

Heaven
The bounties and beauty of Heaven are immense, so much so that it is beyond abilities of mankind’s worldly mind to comprehend” says Hilal Plaza in their article about heaven. It is said that nine out of ten people in the United States believe in a “heaven” (ABC News Poll).  In general, “heaven” is a physical place and location. “Heaven” is a place where people go once they have died and are said to experience paradise and eternal life. Many different cultures and religions believe in a “heaven” or “higher place” where the believers go once the believers have died or their time is up. The other big discussion is when the believers will go to this “heaven”. There are many different views and opinions on what “heaven” is, where it is, and when it is.
“Heaven” through all religions who have a “heaven”, portray “heaven” as a much greater place than the earth today. Earth has sin, crime, pain, hate and suffering. In “heaven” none of these things are an issue. It’s a place where believers of a “heaven” go once they have died and will have happiness and everything the believers need eternally or for a certain amount of time. Christians believe there will be eternal life there in “heaven” (Bible: John 3:16).  In “heaven” many things will also be granted or experienced. In Islam, the believers are said to be granted beautiful virgins, young boys, fruit, water, wine and wealth (The X-Rated Paradise of Islam). A lot of these things may seem to be ill or wrong, but to the Islamic culture these are things that are accepted. Over all, “heaven” is a place where needs are met and paradise is experienced once one has reached “heaven”.
The location of “heaven” is not fully known, but there are many theories of where it is. Referring back to the introduction, “heaven” is a physical place and has a physical location. For many years people have been searching for heaven on Earth, the “Utopia”, their “Shangra-la”, “Nirvana” and the “Paradise lost” (Kevin Williams). No human has been successful in this search. No one actually knows the location of “heaven”. Many believers’ views say it’s in the sky, space or somewhere in the vast universe. One of the most respected Buddhist writers K. Sri Dhammananda, says that Buddhists actually believe “heaven” can be experienced right here on earth in the world itself. There are also some views from the where “heaven” can be a state of mind. How it’s all in one’s mind to feel and have this paradise. With so many different views, there is no real proof of who is right or wrong when it comes to the location of “heaven”.
Time is a very controversial topic when it comes to when “heaven” is or is going to happen.  Through many different teachings, “heaven” is said to happen when the world ends. The end of the world is depicted in many ways with different religious calendars, legends and even movies. Through the Mayan culture and legends, the Mayans say the world will come to an end in the year 2012(The Living Prophecy).  Also according to the Jewish calendar, the world will end after 6000 years (The 6000 years of Biblical Man). Believers of “heaven” also propose that as believers, they will go to “heaven” when their “king” or “God” returns from “heaven” for them. Another theory is that believers go straight to “heaven” as soon as they die. This relates to the popular saying of when someone dies, “they are up in heaven watching over us as we speak.” When “heaven” is going to happen, is a difficult thing to fully understand because it is in the future, and no human has been to the future to experience or see when “heaven” will occur.
Even though “heaven” is so greatly described of what it is, where it is, and when it is through different beliefs and teachings, “heaven” is a concept that can only be left to the imagination of the human mind. Either scientifically, biblically or some other way proven, there are just too many ways to abundantly comprehend the extent of “heaven”. To each individual human being, what “heaven” is, where and when, is up to their own personal beliefs. The only way to really know what “heaven” is, one must wait for that day or moment, to experience personally if one believes that “heaven” is true.

Draft on "Heaven"

“Heaven”

“The bounties and beauty of Heaven are immense, so much so that it is beyond abilities of mankind’s worldly mind to comprehend” says Hilal Plaza in there article about Heaven. Well it is said that nine out of ten people in the United States believe in “Heaven” (ABC News Poll). In general, “heaven” is a physical place and location considered to be in the sky or somewhere in the vast universe. “Heaven” is a place where people go once they have died and are said to experience paradise and eternal life. Many different cultures and religions believe in a “heaven” or “higher place” where they go once they have died. Religions such as Christianity, Buddhism and Islam all have a type of “heaven” where they go. Through each religion this “heaven” is described differently and has certain things that must be done or accomplished to make it into this “heaven”.

“Heaven” in Islam goes by the name of Jannah. For them Jannah is described as paradise. Though it is paradise there are many levels of paradise for them, 7 to be exact (Muslim Voices). The higher the level, the more things will be granted. It all depends on how righteous the person was on earth (Hilal Plaza). The higher the level, the closer they are to the understanding of Allah (God). They are said to experience beautiful virgins, young boys, water, wine, fruit and wealth (Flex.com). In their culture these are all thing that are accepted. Jannah will be a bigger and brighter version of world. Now, to be accepted into Jannah, it is pretty simple. Whoever praised and worshiped only Allah will be accepted to enter. But going back to how righteous they were on earth will decided on what level they will be accepted to enter.

Buddhists believe there are six realms of heaven and each have different aspects. These levels are best heaven, heaven realm, lower realm, animal realm, hungry ghost realm, and hell realm. They go from the ultimate pleasure and happiness to the worst possible place, hell. The ultimate place is what they define as Nirvana. Nirvana is said to “end of suffering while you're alive, and the end of rebirth after you die” (Urban Dharma). Now to get to heaven in Buddhism, it is mostly based on karma and what you have done. The Karma that gets you into heaven can be used up over time. You can only be in heaven for as long as your Karma lasts. Once your karma that you gained in life has been used up you are “re born” (Urban Dharma) to start over again with new wisdom you have learned in heaven.

Heaven in most widely know for coming from the religion of Christianity. Heaven here is said to be the ultimate paradise. There is no pain, no suffering, no sorrow and no more sin. Everyone will be fully satisfied and ultimately happy with everything. Also everyone will be brother and sisters here. There will be large feasts and you will be blessed with everything you need. It is said that the streets are made of gold and everyone will be able to fly with the angels. Now to be accepted into heaven, there are some things that must be done. All though there many different denominations of Christianity such as Baptist, Adventist and Methodist to name a few, they all have very close and similar principals of what needs to be done. One must fully believe and accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. This means they must accept that Jesus came to earth as a man and died on the cross for everyone’s sins. The next step after this is to publicly declare that you accepted Jesus as their lord and savior by being baptized. Once this has been done, you will be accepted into heaven when the time comes.

From the first quote it is clear that Heaven is described in many ways and said to be so amazing that no human can really comprehend what Heaven is going to be. The descriptions of heaven are so astonishing that people can only imagine what it’s going to be like. There isn’t much proof of when the time will come when people go to heaven. So either Buddhist, Islamic or Christian, the believers of a “heaven” are all waiting for the ultimate experience of paradise and happiness once their time is up.
